Santiago del Teide encompasses one of the most spectacular landscapes in Tenerife: the Los Gigantes cliffs (up to 600 m above sea level), the fishing-tourist area of Puerto Santiago and the volcanic black-sand beach of Playa de la Arena. The interior of the municipality includes Tamaimo and Santiago del Teide village itself, at the base of the Chinyero volcano (Tenerife's last eruption, 1909).
